Self Reflection

My Self Reflection

       Volunteering nowadays take a part in every community, because peoples and societies understood what can volunteer do. It is one of the things that can make the difference in the whole community, it can develop it, make it better place to live and work on.

I am now a member with Takatuf organization and I proud, at first when I joined with them that made me happy, because it gave me an opportunity to serve my community, to help people, to make positive changes in the place that I live on and also in my personality. It was a short experience but I learned a lot from it even how to improve myself and believe in my abilities or serving people in different ways. From the first event – city guard – I learned how to organize my time, and how to deal with many people’s from different countries and ages. In addition, I learned how can do we believe that the small stuff does not make a big difference but it’s not, we can make a differences by doing anything, even if it was a small one in my opinions. However from the second event – Malaria exhibition - I learned how to deal with important personalities and how to solve the problems.

Through my experience in volunteering with Takatuf, I faced many problems that affected negatively on my volunteering course but I solved them with my colleagues. These problems from this experiment changed my thinking for life, giving unrequited something noble and wonderful. This experiment made me more confidence, improved my communication skills, and made feel that I am doing something good even if it is small for me and for my country.

I planned to stay with Takatuf and join with them in different events, because it has been a great experiment and it is not the end with volunteering in my life, it is just the beginning.

Interview Task

Here is an interview with Mohammad Bedwan, our leader in City Guard event, I asked him many questions about city guard application:

====================================================

·       What is city guard app, Can you give us a quick description of it ?

- sure, it is a new application launched last year by our government to make Abu Dhabi a better place to live, you can find it in your phones stores and use it immediately.
city guard app as its name, if you find any bad cases, dangerous situation, anything that could be danger in the public safety, just take a photo, video or sound voice and submit it through the app.

·       How the community will participate and help the government?

- Before launching this app, many people saw a lot of bad cases that happened in Abu Dhabi but a few of them called the concerned place, because it was difficult to call and it will take a long time to fix that case, by using this app the community will help the government, this app is for the public safety.

·       Great, by talking about the time, how fast their responses ?

- It depends on the situation, some of cases such as the damage in the high way will not take more time because there are some priority and its necessary to fix it as soon as they can. However some other cases take a week or two weeks maximum.

·       Can you tell us how does it work, how they know my location?

- Almost every smart phone now has a GPS chip inside it or an internet package, so it is very easy to share your location now. I advise you and every one to check the app and there you will find a quick guide lines to use the app in the best way.

·       If each person used this app, how could that help Abu Dhabi?

- If they used it by reporting any bad cases that will affect negatively in Abu Dhabi, this can make Abu Dhabi the best place to live on it and one of the most cleanest cities in the world. By using this app you are helping yourself, and your communit. let’s say you live in your home, if you find any bad situation inside your home, how would you act ? It is the same way for your beloved city.

Thank you Mohammad for your time.
-        You are welcome.

==================================

In the third day of volunteering with Takatuf, at the same place,  the number of visitors to the exhibition was fewer than the first day, but it was a special day because many schools visited us there, one of them called the elite private school, here we started to introduce ourselves  and taking them to the exhibition side to see the photos by describing  the danger effects of Malaria disease and how to avoid it in simple way that let the children understand it.

However I told my small group how they are lucky to live in UAE because this disease does  not exist here and our country is working hard to eliminate it locally and globally.
At last not least, this unique experience of volunteering with Takatuf had taught me a  lot of things, including how to deal with people of different ages and how to deliver the information in the simplest and easiest way. In addition I have learned how to work in a team and how important it is and its impact on my personal life, as well as the importance of volunteering  to the individual and the community in general and how volunteering can make people  progressing and makes their life’s better and more valuable.

In the second day on volunteering with Takatuf organization, we went to emirates palace to meet our leaders there and the rest of volunteers, at first we met them and they gave us an information about Malaria exhibition and its proposes, and how to lead people with some explaining about this event.

Before we start talking about the official opening of the event, let’s have a quick look to the main propose of it. The exhibition is  being held for the first time in the Middle East after it was launched in New York in the World Malaria Day in 2010, documents the significant developments that have been achieved in the field of control and monitoring of the disease in developing countries. Also shows the consequences and devastating consequences for this kind of disease.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi attended and opened the exhibition with  Princess Astrid, daughter of Belgium's King Albert II, the Special Representative of the Roll Back Malaria, and Sheikha Lubna said we need to do many international efforts to eradicate malaria.

Many people’s have attended the exhibition in the first day, because its importance and also because Sheikha Lubna and many other importance characters attended it, so it was a big responsibility for us to organize it in the best way. It was a great experience to me with Takatuf in this event, it was an interesting and I have learned a lot of things such as social skills and problem solving.
